# 9. The ARVO Token

The ARVO token is the native utility token of the Arvo protocol. It provides the primary mechanism through which participants access and interact with the protocol's on-chain functionality, including staking, governance, Treasury reporting, membership and future protocol services.

The token does not represent equity in any company, ownership of any operating business or a contractual entitlement to profits. Instead, it enables participation in the protocol while the underlying operating businesses continue to operate independently through their existing legal and corporate structures.

The ARVO token is used to participate in the protocol. Holders may stake tokens within approved Treasury-backed vaults, participate in governance, qualify for ecosystem membership where applicable and access additional protocol services introduced as the ecosystem develops.

***

The ARVO token performs several core functions within the protocol, including

* Participation in protocol governance.
* Participation in Treasury-backed staking vaults.
* Eligibility to receive Treasury-funded staking rewards.
* Participation in protocol token buyback programmes, where applicable.
* Access to Treasury reporting and protocol updates.
* Access to protocol services and ecosystem features introduced over time.

***

Alongside staking, Arvo will introduce an ecosystem membership model that recognises long-term participation within the protocol. Membership requirements and associated benefits will be determined by the Board and management team in accordance with the governance framework and may include enhanced governance participation, early access to Treasury reporting, priority access to future protocol services and other ecosystem benefits.

***

The governance framework may consider matters relating to the ARVO token, including:

* Treasury capital allocation.
* Treasury reserve policy.
* Staking reward policy.
* Token buyback programmes.
* Membership requirements and ecosystem benefits.
* Protocol upgrades.
* Strategic initiatives.
* Other significant protocol matters.

***

As the protocol develops, additional functionality may be introduced that utilises the ARVO token as the primary means of accessing new protocol services and ecosystem features. Any new functionality will be communicated through the protocol's reporting framework.

The ARVO token provides the mechanism through which participants interact with the protocol, while the Treasury and operating businesses continue to provide the economic foundation that supports the wider ecosystem.
