# 6. Why Blockchain?

Blockchain provides the infrastructure that enables Arvo to operate as a transparent, globally accessible protocol while continuing to acquire and operate businesses through conventional legal and corporate structures.

The Arvo Treasury, governance activity, staking and protocol transactions are recorded on-chain, allowing participants to independently verify key aspects of the protocol through a public and immutable ledger. This provides a level of transparency that is difficult to achieve through traditional private investment structures.

The ARVO token is the mechanism through which participants interact with the protocol. It enables governance, staking and participation across the Arvo ecosystem through a single digital asset. Rather than issuing shares in each individual operating business, the protocol uses a token to provide a consistent and scalable method of participating in the Treasury and the wider ecosystem.

The ARVO token provides a practical mechanism through which participants may interact with the protocol, including governance, staking and other on-chain functionality, while allowing the underlying businesses to remain structured through conventional legal entities.

This approach separates the operation of the businesses from participation in the protocol. Businesses continue to generate profits through their normal commercial activities, while blockchain provides the infrastructure for transparency, governance and Treasury participation.

As additional businesses are acquired, the same blockchain infrastructure continues to support the growing Treasury, enabling efficient governance and protocol participation without changing the underlying operating structure of the portfolio.
